Upcoming Events in 2008

The PTC/A Board is pleased to announce its events for 2008:

Wednesday, July 16 - Summer Recruiter/Staffing Roundtable – Old Spaghetti Factory, Phoenix 11:30-1:00

The Summer Roundtable is our once-a-year opportunity to gather and share/discuss issues important to us all concerning selection, staffing and testing.  So bring your best practices and questions.  It's fun, it's just the cost of your lunch, and it's a great way to meet others facing many of the same challenges .  The Roundtable also serves the PTC/A Board as a way of registering your preferences on future PTC/A programming.  We hope you'll be able to join everyone for a fun and informative event.

Location: The Old Spaghetti Factory (formerly Spaghetti Company) – 1418 North Central Avenue, Phoenix 85004

Date:  Wednesday, July 16, 2008

Time: 11:30 – 1:00

Cost: We will be ordering off the regular menu, lunches generally run $8-$12.  There is no additional cost to attend.

Past Program:

On Friday, April 18, 2008, at SRP, PTC/A hosted a workshop on “Item Bank Tests and WRIB Demo” with Judy Conway and Kathleen Frink of San Bernardino County, California.  The Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) is a cooperative employment testing resource started in 1981 by 15 members; it presently serves 180 public jurisdictions.  The bank contains over 57,000 test questions in 389 separate subject matter categories and is administered by the County of San Bernardino, California, an agency with 19,000 employees.  The WRIB and other item banks grew from recognition that few jurisdictions, including the County of San Bernardino, could afford the expertise and infrastructure involved in developing and operating an item bank.  Participating agencies can review subject matter categories; order test questions online; review statistics regarding how questions have performed historically; request a complete, camera-ready master test booklet; send Scantron answer sheets back to WRIB for scoring; and receive reports and original answer sheets back.  WRIB charges each participating agency a flat $1,700 currently for all these services.  Kathleen and Judy also discussed the fundamentals of writing/editing your own test questions.  This was a worthwhile event to start out 2008.
