From the Editor

by Beverly Waldron

Good news - space limitation means my own contribution will be brief this issue. There are only a couple of things I want to cover.

First, my apologies to everyone for not "editing out" our beloved President's joke. Sorry you had to read it but after her comment about "knowing how she gets. . ." I decided that she deserves to have her corny joke published under her name.

Second, I think we have some good material in this issue and I hope you find it interesting and informative. There are a couple of articles that you may especially want to call to the attention of others. Jeff Feuquay's soapbox on nuisance value might make interesting reading for your management and attorneys. The piece on probationary periods by Sam Sperling covers something that we all know about (or had better know about) but it doesn't hurt to remind ourselves and, unless your organization is a lot different from ours, you probably have a few managers out there who could benefit from reading it.

Next, Get involved! Join the committee of your choice! Enough said.

Finally, I hope to see you in Boston! Kris, Warren, and their committees have done a wonderful job of preparing a great conference. Please join us!

Warning to those of you who will be in attendance at the conference in Boston: the ACN editor will be back out looking for "volunteers" to write articles. (If I can't volunteers there's always the draft and you just may be the player to be named later.) Don't bother trying to avoid me. There's no place to run to, no place to hide. And to those of you who will not be attending the conference, don't think that protects you or makes you safe. There's' no escape. (If you listen very carefully you can probably hear the echos of maniacal laughter in the background...) See you soon!
