IPMAAC Strategic Plan for 1997

Membership

Objective

To promote and retain membership in the Assessment Council.

Program I

To plan and coordinate the Assessment Council's programs for membership promotion and retention.

Program II

Develop/enhance membership promotion and retention activities.

Membership Publications

Objective

To plan, produce and distribute publications as a service to IPMAAC members, and for potential supplemental income from the outside sale of publications and advertising space.

Program I

To plan, prepare and coordinate with IPMA staff on the production and distribution of the Assessment Council News (ACN).

Program II

Plan, prepare and coordinate with IPMA staff on the publication of periodic articles about IPMAAC Section Activities for communication to the Association in IPMA News.

Program III

To plan, prepare and work with IPMA staff to produce and distribute miscellaneous membership surveys, reports and directories.

Program IV

To establish a process of distributing annual conference records to members interested in receiving them at low cost (in addition to ERIC publication).

Program V

To analyze available electronic options to collect, store, and transmit information and services to members (such as member directories, opinion data, research reports, legal briefs, etc.) as a less expensive alternative to printing and mailing.

Program VI

To increase vendor advertisement in ACN and the conference program and vendor participation in exhibits at annual conference.

Representation

Objective

To support IPMA and the profession by contributing the Assessment Council's professional knowledge to the establishment of positions concerning major legislation, regulations and court decisions and programs; and to participate with other interested groups in matters of benefit and interest to the Council.

Program I

Support the general purposes and methods of IPMA-US and serve as a resource of professional expertise on technical issues and policy.

Program II

Encourage, give direction to, and facilitate inter-organizational cooperation, information exchange and resource sharing in the area of personnel assessment.

Program III

Recognize the contributions of colleagues to the field of personnel assessment; highlighting standards of excellence for personnel assessment professionals.

IPMAAC Conference

Objectives

(1) To provide opportunities for members to increase their professional skills and Council knowledge and further develop their ability to help organizations apply assessment techniques to increase effectiveness; (2) To encourage members to develop on-going professional/collegial dialogues with their professional associates in other organizations; and (3) To strengthen effectiveness through annual face to face committee meetings and related organizational planning activities conducted by members.

Program I

Work closely with IPMA staff to accomplish the 1997 Conference critical path for conference planning and site arrangements, related mailings, program material development, printing and distribution, etc.; insuring necessary communication and coordination among the IPMAAC President, conference committee chairs, IPMA staff, etc.

Program II

Enhance content of conference program and pre-conference seminars consistent with the suggestions and recommendations of the IPMAAC Board of Directors; the 1996 Ad Hoc Member Development Study Team's recommendations, 1996 Conference Evaluation results, and selected conference theme.

Program III

Encourage participation of members and non-members in the annual conference through use of both electronic and print publicity.

Program IV

Encourage conference participation of college and university faculty and students interested in Personnel Assessment.

Program V

Enhance distribution of conference proceedings and increase member and non-member access to papers and handouts presented at the conference through use of electronic media.

Professional Development

Objective

To provide continuing professional development opportunity of value to a full range of our members - from students and those new to the profession to seasoned professionals who wish to enhance existing skills and knowledge.

Program I

Continue the work of the Ad Hoc IPMAAC Member Development Study Team who are studying the issue of member development and preparing recommendations to the IPMAAC Board of Directors.

Program II

Participate in regional activities of IPMA and assessment organizations through delivery of preconference workshops and/or IPMAAC sponsored symposia, and through other approaches, such as collaborative training or workshop development initiatives)

Program III

Advertise standard and tailored training workshop offerings; plan and negotiate training workshop delivery (continuing the "break even" approach), coordinating session arrangements with IPMA staff and training customers; assigning trainers; and assessing training outcomes and needed improvements.

Program IV

Training workshop development and revision.

Program V

Develop standardized guidelines articulating IPMAAC's training policy and procedures.

General Administration

Objective

To assure that organizational activities are accomplished in accord with bylaws; to initiate changes to the bylaws and to administrative processes as needed to improve organizational functioning; to initiate planning for program continuity in future years.

Program I

Conduct IPMAAC board member and officer elections

Program II

Initiate IPMAAC by-laws changes as needed

Program III

Develop 1998 IPMAAC strategic plan

Program IV

Update/enhance the IPMAAC Procedures Manual as needed.
