Public Sector Practice Exchange

by Ilene Gast, Associate Editor

Because of job related-travel, the holidays, and the politically and naturally imposed Federal Government hiatus, I have no news to report in this issue of the ACN. Since December 8, I have been at my desk at INS a total of 3 hours.

During the past five years I have highlighted research and development activities, primarily on the Federal Level, and for a while, exclusively at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (after all, my column was called "OPM Happenings"). Last year, I attempted, with minor success, to expand coverage to innovative programs at the Federal, State Local level. With your help, I would like to further increase coverage of state and local activities. From my trips to the annual IPMAAC conferences, I know that there are many interesting projects in progress across the United States. I would very much like to feature such programs in my column. Please, let me hear from you.

The next deadline for submitting ideas and information is March 1, 1996. I can be reached by phone at (202) 305-0590, and by fax at (202) 305-4200. In addition, I can now be reached by electronic mail. While Washington D.C. was snow bound, I applied for and received my "Learners Permit" on the information highway. I now have an account and corresponding mail box on America Online account. My address is ifgast@aol.com.
