Bay Area Applied Psychologists (BAAP)

Chicago Industrial/Organizational Psychologists (CI/OP)

"I/O Psychology and the Law" was the topic at the CI/OP meeting in January and "Careers in Psychology" will be the subject of the February 19 meeting. The March 17 meeting will feature "Current Theories about Leadership" and "Technology and Performance Assessment (Web-Based Performance Assessment)" will be the topic on May 12. CI/OP's Annual Dinner Meeting will be held on June 16. CI/OP generally has Friday afternoon sessions from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M. featuring several speakers addressing a topic. Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology

"The Light and Dark Sides of Competency Modeling" was the topic of speaker Ken Pearlman of Lucent Technologies on December 16. Richard Hackman of Harvard University presented "Leading Teams" on January 11. The Ground Hog's Day Dinner will be held on February 22. Bill Byham of Development Dimensions Intl. will present "The Millennium Elephant and Other Challenges Facing the Industrial/Organizational Psychologist in the Next Century." On March 9, the topic of Virginia Schlein, Professor at Gettysburg College will be "Understanding Poor Women in Work: Opportunities for Industrial/Organizational Psychologists." Mid-Atlantic Personnel Assessment Consortium (MAPAC)

Minnesota Professional for Psychologists At Work (MPPAW)

Elaine D. Pulakos, immediate past president of SIOP presented her work on "Adaptability in the Work Place" and its application to the fast changing workplace in January. The February 17 meeting will feature Sandra O. Davis, President of MDA Consulting Group presenting "Strategic Uses of Assessment in Today's Organizations." Leaetta Hough, President of The Dunnette Group, Ltd., will discuss trends and key findings in the field of I/O Psychology over the last five years focusing on implications for practice at the March meeting (date TBA). PTC-AZ is off to a good start for 2000. PTC/Southern California

Susan Cohen presented results of a meta-analytical study of effective teams at the luncheon meeting in November. In January, Attorney Diane Wentworth of the City of Los Angeles conducted an employment-law update. The February 23 meeting topic, "Job Analysis Checkpoints and Issues of Quality Control" will cover potential sources of error in job analysis data and how to avoid them. Western Region Item Bank

The Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) is a cooperative organization of public agencies using a computerized test item bank. Services include draft test questions with complete item history, preparation of "printer ready" exams, and exam scoring and item analysis. Membership includes 190 agencies nationwide. WRIPAC

WRIPAC featured Mike Willihnganz discussing "Item Analysis" and Bill Donnoe presented "Performance Tests" in January. Western Regional Intergovernmental Personnel Assessment Council (WRIPAC) is comprised of assessment professionals from more than sixty small, medium, and large public agencies throughout the western United States.
