Minnesota Professionals for Psychology Applied to Work (MPPAW)

Announcing a new organization for I/O Psychologists! MPPAW will have six scheduled meetings for the upcoming year. Meetings will be held at the University of Minnesota on Thursday evenings and the program will include a social hour, presentation, and question and answer session. The first meeting will be held on September 24th and will feature Frank Schmidt of the University of Iowa who will speak on "New Paradigms for Human Resources." Richard Arvey of the University of Minnesota will speak on "Emotionality in the Workplace: Implications for Employers and Approaches for Reducing Negative Consequences" on October 15th. Bay Area Applied Psychologists (BAAP)

Mid-Atlantic Personnel Assessment Consortium (MAPAC)

MAPAC is gearing up for its Fall meeting which will be held on September 16-18 in Princeton, NJ. Topics will include: Development and Validation of Physical Employment Tests and Medical Employment Guidelines; Training Effectiveness Evaluation; Privatization and other issues of interest to assessment professionals. Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology

METRO presented a panel of METRO's past presidents on the evening of June 18th discussing the topic "Looking Backward, Looking Forward." The June meeting was the last meeting of the year. For information contact Seymour Adler (212)539-7593.

PSC/Florida

The Personnel Selection Council of Florida's May seminar on ADA issues covered: how to request proper medical information; reasonable accommodation; and ADA process documentation. Future meetings are in the planning stages. Contact Desiree Bice (954)724-1351 for more information.

PTC/Arizona

PTC - AZ held a full day workshop entitled "Almost Everything You Wanted to Know About Selection" conducted by Ted Darany and Kristine Smith of Darany & Associates in May. All participants found the session to be extremely worthwhile. The next program will be a full-day workshop on assessment centers and is tentatively set for September 18. The primary instructor will be Colleen McManus of the Arizona State Bar. Colleen had extensive experience with assessment centers while employed with the Arizona Department of Corrections. PTC/Northern California

PTC/NC hosted Dave Milne of Bay Test Services who spoke on test administration issues at the July meeting. The next luncheon meeting will be held on August 14th in Sacramento, CA. PTC/Metropolitan Washington

PTC/MW hosted a half-day workshop in July with James Sharf of AON Consulting and Dave Copus of Jones, Day, Reavis & Progue speaking on the topic "Employment Discrimination Law Revisited." PTC/Southern California

The Personnel Testing Council of Southern California's July meeting featured Kristine Smith of Darany and Associates presenting "Can you measure that? Using Promotability Evaluations as a High Risk/High Potential Assessment Tool." "Advancing the Technology & Utility of Personnel Selection" will be explored by Dr. Terry Mitchell of MPORT Management Solutions at the August 26th luncheon meeting. Dr. Sheldon Zedeck of the University of California - Berkley will discuss video-based testing at the September 23rd meeting. For further information, please contact Ross Hessler at (714) 536-5917. Western Region Item Bank

The Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) is a cooperative organization of public agencies using a computerized test item bank. Services include draft test questions with complete item history, preparation of "printer ready" exams, and exam scoring and item analysis. Membership includes 190 agencies nationwide. WRIPAC
