WRIPAC
The Western Region Intergovernmental Personnel Assessment Council (WRIPAC) is a consortium of public agencies from the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon. The organization meets three times per year (usually in January, May, and September) with membership based upon meeting attendance and contribution to WRIPAC's working committees.
The meeting program typically includes pre-meeting workshops on assessment related topics and a two-day program with informative presentations, a membership roundtable and committee meetings. WRIPAC's committees have developed several resources which it makes available to both members and any interested agencies. Such resources include:

a very popular job analysis manual, software and training course.

a series of monographs on topics such as setting pass points, test security, and recruitment strategies.

an active training schedule which includes core courses on job analysis, examination planning, item writing and item analysis.

a task inventory bank for several classifications.

WRIPAC Celebrates 20th Anniversary
WRIPAC celebrated its 20th anniversary in January at the Bahia Resort in San Diego California. The occasion was marked with a well attended meeting and social event. The meeting program included pre-meeting workshops on job analysis and examination planning, several outstanding presentations, and the ever popular WRIPAC roundtable.
The social event also served as an entertaining and informative venture into WRIPAC's past and its accomplishments. Two of WRIPACs founding members, Karen Coffee of the California Youth Authority and Anita Ford from the City of Los Angeles served as the Mistresses of Ceremonies for the program which included a trivia quiz (Which WRIPAC members are Bemis Award winners? How many monographs exist and what are the titles?, Which WRIPAC meeting included a BBQ at the zoo?) the story of WRIPAC's beginnings, and recognition of several WRIPAC members and past presidents. The story of WRIPAC's beginnings was presented as a highly entertaining fable (including props) which outlined the trials of an organization struggling to get things off the ground and keep its momentum. The contributions and efforts of those who worked to make WRIPAC the dynamic organization it is today are noted throughout the story.
