MAPAC
The Mid-Atlantic Personnel Assessment Consortium (MAPAC) will hold its upcoming meeting in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, May 6th through the 8th. Chris Pastelak will speak on the topic "Re-Structuring Job Classifications and Pay in South Carolina," Dr. Linda Curran will address "Norming the Computerized ASVAB," Carla Swander will discuss "The Use and Validation of the Diplomat Customer Service Test," Bruce Davey will present "The Use and Validation of the Municipal Police Selection Test," and John Kraus will discuss "Innovations and Initiatives in New Jersey." In addition, the roundtable discussion will include presentations by Bob Wendland, Phil Ferrara, Robyn Kohen, David Hammill, and Gena Moreno. WRIPAC
The Western Region Intergovernmental Personnel Assessment Council (WRIPAC) will conduct a full-day item writing workshop on Wednesday, May 8th, in Sacramento. The WRIPAC meeting which follows on May 9th and 10th will include a presentation by John Worcester and Ted Darany on the City of Portland's police officer selection process, as well as a presentation by Karen Coffee entitled "Innovations with Automation." Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology
The Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology head Ben Dowell address "Lessons Learned from Implementing 360o Assessment for Executives" at its March meeting. The April 17th meeting will present Arlene A. Johnson speaking on the topic "Employer Initiatives on Work-Life Issues." The May meeting, with the date and speaker to be announced, will be a career development event. On June 13th, Richard Campbell will address "Executive Selection." PTC/Northern California
Personnel Testing Council of Northern California held its annual conference on March 14th and 15th in Sacramento. Highlights of the conference included a presentation by Keith Pyburn entitled "Are We Now Where We Were Then? The Bell Curve and the Gingrich Revolution: Implications for Employment Testing Litigation," "Conducting Future-Oriented Job Analysis - Hurdles Jumped and Lessons Learned" presented by Dr. Edie Goldberg, and "Changes in the Direction of Employment Litigation" by Dr. Frank Landy. Personnel Testing Council of Southern California held a luncheon session on item response theory in February. The annual spring conference entitled "I'll See You in Court" was held on March 29th in Long Beach. This legal issue conference included presentations by Dr. David Arnold, Dr. Jeff Feuquay, Rheta King, and Dr. Frank Landy. Luncheon programs are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Personnel Testing Council of Metropolitan Washington will be holding a series of workshops in June at the Washington Vista Hotel. On June 11th, Dr. John Campbell and Dr. Rod McCloy will lead a workshop entitled "Skills-related Human Resource Management Issues: Formulating a Research Agenda." Also on June 11th, Dr. Phil Bobko will conduct the workshop "Analyzing Correlational Data." Two workshops will also be presented June 12th. Dr. Teresa Russell and Dr. Scott Oppler will conduct a workshop entitled "Psychometric Considerations in the Evaluation of Subgroup Differences and Differential Prediction," and Dr. Doug Johnson and Dr. Rodger Ballentine will lead the workshop "Teaming for Tomorrow: Implementation of Self-Managed Work Team in Traditional Organizations." WRIB
The Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) is a cooperative organization of public agencies using a computerized test item bank. Services include draft test questions with complete item history, preparation of "printer ready" exams, and exam scoring and item analysis. Membership includes 166 agencies nation-wide.
