Bay Area Applied Psychologists (BAAP)

Chicago Industrial/Organizational Psychologists (CI/OP)

The March meeting featured "Current Theories about Leadership." "Technology and Performance Assessment (Web-Based Performance Assessment)" will be the topic on May 12. CI/OP's Annual Dinner Meeting will be held on June 16. CI/OP generally has Friday afternoon sessions from 1:00 - 5:00 P.M. featuring several speakers addressing a topic. Metropolitan New York Association for Applied Psychology

On March 9, the topic of Virginia Schlein, Professor at Gettysburg College was "Understanding Poor Women in Work: Opportunities for Industrial/Organizational Psychologists." The Career Day Event will be held on the morning of April 27 at Baruch College. The May 17 meeting will welcome speakers Schlomo Ben-Hur, Chief Learning Officer, Daimler Chrysler Services and Edmund B. Piccolino, VP and Chief Personnel Officer, Kodak Polychrome Graphics. Mid-Atlantic Personnel Assessment Consortium (MAPAC)

The MAPAC (Mid-Atlantic Personnel Assessment Consortium) Program Committee is pleased to announce that we have finalized the dates and venue for the Spring MAPAC Conference. It will be held in Washington, DC at the State Plaza Hotel from May 10-12, 2000. The hotel is located in walking distance to the Washington METRO "Red Line" Foggy Bottom stop. For those of you unfamiliar with DC, Washington's main AMTRAK station, Union Station, is also on the Red Line. The program is still being finalized for the conference. It will be distributed: (a) electronically to you on this list; (b) through the MAPAC website; and (c) through a hard copy to the mailing list.

For those of you who want to start making lodging arrangements at the State Plaza Hotel, they are offering us the government per diem rate of $118 single and $138 double. Make sure that you mention that you are part of MAPAC to ensure that you get these rates. Their toll-free number is 800-424-2859. (This information will also be included on the registration form to be included with the program.)

Minnesota Professional for Psychologists At Work (MPPAW)

The February meeting featured Sandra O. Davis, President of MDA Consulting Group presenting "Strategic Uses of Assessment in Today's Organizations." Leaetta Hough, President of The Dunnette Group, Ltd., discussed trends and key findings in the field of I/O Psychology over the last five years focusing on implications for practice at the March meeting. PTC/Arizona

PTC-AZ is off to a good start for 2000. On February 11, 2000, Personnel Testing Council of Arizona (PTC-AZ) hosted Dr. Thomas Haladyna, Professor of Educational Psychology at ASU West, who conducted an informative and entertaining workshop on multiple-choice item writing and item analysis. On May 5, 2000, PTC-AZ has scheduled another one day workshop entitled: Implementing an Assessment Center: Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions. PTC/Southern California

Mark your calendars now for the April 26th, 2000 PTC meeting! Our speaker will be Dr. Terry Mitchell, an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist and founder/CEO of MPORT, INC. His presentation is entitled: "The Power of the Internet for Personnel Selection." Dr. Mitchell's presentation will focus on administering biodata (and other assessment tools) via internet delivery systems. He will also be addressing the impact of technology on personnel selection, and some of the issues HR professionals will be faced with in utilizing this technology. We are working on getting equipment so that Dr. Mitchell can present live internet demos!

May 25, 2000 Spring Conference: A variety of tools, strategies and methodologies to deal with current challenges facing selection professionals, including entry-level and applied sessions focusing on job analysis including the practical application of a job analysis study and the resulting outcomes. Western Region Item Bank

The Western Region Item Bank (WRIB) is a cooperative organization of public agencies using a computerized test item bank. Services include draft test questions with complete item history, preparation of "printer ready" exams, and exam scoring and item analysis. Membership includes 190 agencies nationwide.
