Haven't made you're reservation yet for this year's IPMAAC Conference?

Well act now to take advantage of this year's exciting program. If this is your first IPMAAC conference this is an ideal opportunity to meet and talk with other selection professionals, share ideas and establish contacts.

The program will kick off on Sunday June 4, 2000 with an address by Dr. Wayne Camera, on the "Implications of the Revised Testing Standards on Personnel Testing Practice". This session will highlight major additions and changes to the Joint Testing Standards that have the most direct implications on the practice of personnel testing and assessment and will also invite audience discussion and questions. Dr. Robert Hogan will start the day on Monday with, "The existential beauty of the validity coefficient." The focus of our keynote session Tuesday will be "Selection Instruments: Which Predict Best" presented by Dr. Harold Goldstein and to complete our conference on Wednesday, Dr. Rick Jacobs, will discuss "Hiring in Today's Labor Market: More (or less) Than Ability.

You will want to be sure to book in advance for one or more of the following pre-conference workshops:

In addition, there are 50 presentations during the conference on a number of topics in a variety of formats including paper sessions, tutorials, symposiums and panel discussions. Paper topics range from innovations in Internet assessment, development of computer interactive tests, predictors of performance, development of a multi-classification test battery, and ways of establishing cut-offs. There are also a number of panel discussions and unique sessions planned including, a report on the task force on test user qualifications; a presentation on the effect of the Lanning decision on minimum standards, a discussion on the IPMA/HR Competency Model, a panel discussion incorporating a critical look at the assessment center method and a Presidential Forum which will include a discussion of trends in HR Management and the role of the assessment professional.

…Nor have we neglected the social side. Washington, D.C. is a veritable treasure of dining experiences, neighborhoods, historical museums and art treasures. Your "Welcome to Washington" packet will include dining suggestions - every cuisine, from Afghanistan to Zaire, can be found, and we'll tell you how. If you want haute cuisine at Lespinasse or burgers at Johnny Rockets, you'll find it here. If a neighborhood walking tour is your preference, your choices include Old Town Alexandria, Capitol Hill, Georgetown and ethnic-rich Adams-Morgan. Art? Modern, contemporary, the classics, portraits, or photography - your only problem will be choosing where to start. And of course, we have the Smithsonian, which is not just one museum building - it's a rich collection of our history spread around the downtown Mall area in a variety of venues.

And we will have the traditional "nite-out" - this year, it's an informal Monday night at the Crystal City Sports Pub. Sharpen up your pool-sharking and dart-throwing skills, and bring your dancing shoes as well.

(P.S. If you have an extra day or two to spend in Washington, you might want to contact your local House or Senate representative's District Office about gallery passes to Congressional sessions)
